This year, on April 13, municipal and regional elections will be held in Finland.
For example, in Helsinki, candidates from different political parties who speak Russian or were born in Russia are running for office:
• Santeri Leinonen (Green Party / Vihreät) – Campaign website: santerileinonen.fi
• Olesia Kova (Left Alliance / Vasemmistoliitto) – Campaign website: olesia.fi
• Alexandr Foy (Social Democratic Party / SDP) – Campaign website: alexandrfoy.fi
• Daniel Sazonov (National Coalition Party / Kansallinen Kokoomus) – Campaign website: danielsazonov.fi
In these elections, you can vote for only one candidate.Anyone who has lived in Finland with a residence permit for more than two years is eligible to vote.
However, keep in mind that a candidate speaking your native language does not necessarily share your political views.
To help voters make informed decisions, the Finnish public broadcasting company Yle has conducted a nationwide survey, asking key political questions to candidates. Now you, as a voter, can take the same quiz to find out which candidates are closest to your views.
You can take the test here:🔗 https://vaalit.yle.fi/vaalikone/alue-ja-kuntavaalit2025
Vote wisely and take part in your civic duty!
